So it’s based on the book of the same name by Meg Cabot. And I’ve read the book, it’s a good book, for a teen novel, of course. Medieval crossed with the modern teen world.
The movie was ok, I had bigger expectations, though, and I was admittedly disappointed at the outcome of the movie. Though Britt did a great job at acting, I pictured Allie to be…as was described in the book, or at least, close to it. Obviously, that left me a little disappointed. Joey portrayed the best friend role rather efficiently and at times cute, though Gregg just isn’t that good yet, and, needless to say, his fake American accent was too much, it didn’t fit him. I also pictured the actor that would play Will to be the typical ‘tall, dark & handsome’ teenager.
An otherwise rather predictable plot was made less predictable with the change of ending and the roles of the characters when transformed to King Arthur and the knights, Merlin, the Order of the Bear & Mordred. Of course, it would’ve made much more sense if they kept the original roles, at least for the 2 leads.
It’s fun to watch, thus its Disney charisma, but lets just say, this one won’t be getting prestige.
I’d rate this 5.5/10

It’s “funny” to watch if you didn’t read the book! Otherwise, you’ll be mad like me!!
